Jason day wins the players by four shots! This makes him number 1 in the world.
This is the his 10th PGA tour win and seventh in last 17 starts, pretty impressive.
He’s got good momentum and feels comfortable with his clubs.
I will share the clubs, what has lead to his amzing performances.
Driver: TaylorMade M1 460 (Mitsubishi Rayon KuroKage Silver TiNi 70X shaft), 10.5 degrees
The M1 without a doubt helped him with distance and accuracy. I dont know if you have seen the fairways at sawgrass but they are very narrow. What helped him so much was the ability of controlling his drives.
3-wood: TaylorMade M2 (Mitsubishi Rayon KuroKage Silver TiNi 80X shaft), 17 degrees
Same goes for his 3wood if he ever used it. Which I doubt. He was able to go long with a lot of control.
Not the newest set of clubs which there is nothing wrong with that. This means that he is very comfortable and has not changed his set in 2 years. Im sure he has made some modifications with the shafts but this is why is he consistent. A big lesson you can learn from Day is too get comfortable with your clubs dont be changing every year. Work on your swing and be consistent. Not the guy chasing the newest irons.
Let’s focus on the short game aspect. Day has been killing it sticking it close on many occasions this week at the players. Its not so much which wedges but the result he got from being consistent with them
